Who We Support -

Alice Jonah and The Diplomat Hotel

Building a Community of Elders Helping Elders

The Diplomat Hotel, once a five-star Jerusalem resort, is today a worn-out absorption center where elderly Russian immigrants reside. Several years ago, Alice Jonah decided to help build a caring community there; she established a library, Hebrew language class, choir, exercise classes, computer lessons, trips and more for residents.

Although funding for Alice’s programs has diminished in recent years, with donor support her core “home health aide” project continues. Stronger residents help those less independent. For about $1,000 monthly, several residents receive assistance and invaluable attention. In return, their “aides” gain a sense of purpose at modest hourly wages.

Our funds support several months of this life-saving program.
