Good People Fund grantee Bagel Rescue, founded by Erin Stieglitz, was featured in the July 2026 issue of Atlanta Magazine in a lovely profile, “Bagel Rescue is giving day-old bagels a ‘hole’ new purpose.” The piece traces Bagel Rescue’s origins to the pandemic, when Erin’s then nine-year-old son called a local bagel shop for day-old bagels to donate to frontline workers, a simple act of kindness that grew into a national movement. Today, more than 300 volunteers make weekly rounds across a dozen-plus Georgia counties, rescuing surplus bagels from 80-plus restaurant partners and delivering them to 150-plus food pantries and community organizations. Since launching in 2020, Bagel Rescue has rescued and delivered more than 4 million bagels, with plans now underway to expand into Florida, Texas, and Louisiana.
