Our Commitment to Privacy of our Donors and Website Users

The privacy of our donors and other users of this website is important to us. To better protect privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

The Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected by or submitted to the Good People Fund, whether electronically via our website, by email, by mail or other offline methods.  Some pages of the Good People Fund’s website allow you to make requests and register to receive materials, and we accept similar offline requests for registration and materials. The types of personal information collected at these pages or derived from offline requests are:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Credit/Debit Card Information

On some pages or via offline correspondence/communication donors and others can submit information about other people. For example, if someone makes a donation in honor or in memory of another person and, if the donor wishes us to notify that person of the donation, the donor will need to submit the recipient’s mailing address or email address. In this circumstance, the types of personal information regarding the person being notified that is collected are:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone Number

The Way We Use Information

We use the information that donors and others, including non-donor users of this website, provide about themselves when subscribing to our mailing list to send them information about ourselves and our ongoing activities. We do not trade, share or sell a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.  We do not share information on our mailing list with any outside parties except to the extent necessary to actually complete mailings or electronic distributions relating to our own activities.

We use the information you provide about a donor or someone else being honored or memorialized by a donation to acknowledge the donation to the donor and any honoree that the donor may specify, and for our own internal accounting and recordkeeping purposes. We do not share or sell this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to acknowledge the donation, to complete your method of payment (clearance of checks, submission of credit card information, etc.) and to comply with record keeping laws applicable to 501(c)(3) non-profit corporations.

We use return email addresses from donors and others that provide them to us to answer the email we receive and may also include such addresses on our own electronic mailing list. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared or sold with outside parties. You can register with our website if you would like to receive information from us and updates on our activities and finances.  Any person may also request that they be removed from any electronic or non-electronic mailing list maintained by us.

We may from time to time use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website. For example, we may disclose that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.

Finally, we will never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above, or make future exceptions to the policies outlined herein without also providing the relevant individual, whether or not a donor, with a prior opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Recommended Donations Policy

As stated, our policy is not to routinely share donor information with third parties. In the case of recommended (designated) donations we may wish to advise the recipients of the recommended donation of the source of that donation, and will obtain permission to do so from the donor prior to making that disclosure.

Our Commitment to Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never solicit, collect or maintain information via our website for those we actually know are under 13 without appropriate authorization from a parent or guardian, and no part of our website that may from time to time be structured to attract anyone under 13 will collect any identifying information about such viewers.

How You Can Access or Correct Your Information

You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by contacting naomi@goodpeoplefund.org. We have implemented procedures to better safeguard your information. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that credibly shows the error. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.

How to Contact Us

Should you have other questions or concerns about these privacy policies, please call us at 973-761-0580 or send us an email at naomi@goodpeoplefund.org.
